DermaL Filler

Dermal Filler Auckland

Dermal filler is a gel-like hyaluronic acid that is injected into the tissue at different depths to lift, volumise and sculpt the face. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring hydrophilic substance which is found in our skin. It attracts 1000 times its weight in water. This is how it is able to volumise and hydrate the skin. It also stimulates new collagen and elastin production in the skin which helps take away the fine lines and wrinkles.

Typical Dermal Filler treatments and areas include:

  • Lip enhancement – adds volume and definition to thin lips as well as helps smooth the appearance of wrinkles around the lips.
  • Cheek enhancement – adds volume to sunken cheeks and defines the cheekbones.
  • Chin enhancement – adds structure to a small retruded chin.
  • Jawline enhancement – adds definition and strengthens the jawline.
  • Filling in under eye hollows – adds volume to sunken eye hollows and reduces the appearance of blue shadows and wrinkles.
  • Softening of Nasolabial lines – reduces the appearance of deep lines between the bottom of the nose and the corners of the mouth.
  • Softening of marionette lines – reduces the appearance of facial folds between the corners of the mouth and chin.
  • Softens deeper lines and wrinkles
  • Non-surgical nose job – lifts depressions, mask humps, elevate nasal tips

HA Dermal fillers are temporary and results can last between 6 months and 18 months before they are broken down by the body.

Dermal fillers do have some risks which is why it is important to see an experienced injector. Should the filler be inadvertently injected into the artery, it can block the artery. This is a rare occurrence and leads to damage of the skin supplied by the artery. Should the filler get into the artery going to the eye it can cause blindness. This is very rare and is at highest risk when treating the nose or the Glabella area between the eyebrows.

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal fillers can be broken down by an enzyme called Hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase dissolves any unwanted filler and treats complications like vascular occlusions.
