Profhilo® is a unique injectable Hyaluronic Acid (HA) that is slightly different to a filler. It is the consistency of runny honey and is injected into the face or neck with just 10 injection sites. The injections are just under the skin in the superficial subcutaneous layer. Profhilo® contains a higher concentration of HA (64mg/ml) than usual dermal fillers and the HA molecules are bonded by heat. This makes them stable and longer lasting in your tissue, rejuvenating your skin. Despite its high HA content, Profhilo® has a low inflammatory profile and pro-healing properties backed by clinical studies.
Traditional fillers are used to replace volume and enhance contours and structures, whereas Profhilo® is focused on bio-revitalisation. Bio-revitalisation stimulates your own skin cells (Fibroblasts) and fat cells to function better to create more youthful looking tissue and skin. The treatment consists of 10 small injections of the Profhilo® under the skin at precise pre-set positions on the face and/or neck. It is a comfortable treatment similar to dermal filler.
The initial treatment course includes 2-3 sessions at 4 to 6 weeks interval. Most people see positive changes after their second session. Sometimes a 3rd treatment may be needed to achieve the best results. Your result can be maintained with a single treatment session every 6-9 months.
Profhilo® stimulates the fibroblast cells in our skin to produce more collagen and elastin in the skin. It has also been shown to stimulate the adipocytes (fat cells) under the skin to provide more support. In the weeks after your 2nd injection session, you will start to see an improvement in the texture and glow of your skin and any early skin laxity.
The most common side effect is bruising, however this is rare. Please stop any products that thin the blood 2 weeks prior to your treatment. These include fish oils, NSAIDs, gingko biloba, and high doses of Vitamin E, turmeric, green tea, ginger, and garlic.
Other possible but exceedingly rare side effects include lumps, infection, blocked blood vessel, allergic reaction. Profhilo® is an injectable HA product so we can use the Hyalase enzyme to reverse any significant side effects.
