Dr Jenni Irvine

Cosmetic Physician

MBBCh, MRCGP, DRCOG GPSI Dermatology

As an empath, I knew from a young age I needed to be in a caring profession and it is not surprising I found my way into the medical world. From reaching success as a doctor, finding my stride in Aesthetic Medicine and teaching both locally and internationally, to caring for my patients, colleagues and family – my empathic nature has always been intertwined with my professional and personal life. As a result, I value care, precision and honesty in my work and this can be seen through my medical journey.

I graduated from Witwatersrand University Medical School in 1992 and went on to specialise as a general practitioner in the UK, attaining membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2002 and the diploma from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG).

I joined a GP Practice in Northumberland and whilst working as a GP I did sessions in the Dermatology clinics at our local hospital.

It was during this time that I developed a passion for Dermatology and all things skin, which resulted in me attaining my Diploma in Practical Dermatology from Cardiff University. In 2003, I returned to South Africa which gave me the opportunity to combine my GP, Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine careers and start my own clinic, offering injectable treatments and skin therapies with a strong focus on medical grade treatments for medical skin conditions.

In 2012, I was one of the first South African Medical Practitioners to attain Board Certification with the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. Additionally, I was a founding member of the Allergan Medical Aesthetics Academy in South Africa. I am passionate about educating fellow doctors in the field of Aesthetic Medicine which is why I have been so involved in teaching and training over the past thirteen years.

I am committed to professional excellence and count it a privilege to help other medical practitioners in the industry reach their full potential. Since moving to New Zealand, I have joined the NZSCM and undertaken the Diploma in Cosmetic Medicine. I now have the privilege of being part of the Teoxane education Team, helping to upskill injectors with Dermal Fillers.

I strive to assist patients in making informed choices when engaging with the Aesthetics industry. I believe it is especially important, now with the overwhelming amount of fake news and misinformation surrounding the industry, to offer the public accurate and safe information regarding the Aesthetics World. It is also essential that we strive to maintain a normal and healthy perception of Aesthetics in this time of Social media driven realities.

Above all, I am a mum. My family are especially important to me. I am married and have 3 children, a grown-up daughter and tweenie twins. My time outside of the Medicine is filled with family, friends and fitness – the recipe for a healthy, happy life!
