Platelet Rich Plasma

What is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and is derived from your own blood, which contains numerous growth factors. Studies have shown that the body’s natural healing process is activated when PRP is added to a treatment area, releasing specific proteins that lead to collagen synthesis, accelerate cell regeneration, and tissue rejuvenation.

PRP was originally used to stimulate stem cells and accelerate the healing process in medical fields such as Orthopaedic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and dentistry. However, the wider benefits have since made it one of the most popular medical-grade treatments for aesthetic professionals.

Swelling and redness of the treated areas is common especially around the eyes and on the neck, although usually only for 24 – 48 hours. Some bruising may occur and can be covered with make-up after the initial 24-hour period. Bruising may take 1-2 weeks to clear completely.
Any area of the body. Commonly around the eyes, cheeks, neck, jaw line, chest, décolletage and back of the hands.
Visible results will not be immediate. You will see some swelling from the fluid, but once this has subsided you will not see much change at all. Over 3 months the PRP stimulation will gradually improve the texture and tone of your skin, and this improvement will continue over the following months.

PRP stimulates collagen production in the skin and floods the treatment area with stem cells and growth factors. This helps enhance the skin tone, strengthen dermal integrity and boost skin health on the face and body. Results of PRP can start becoming visible at 3 weeks and increase gradually over ensuing months – the results are cumulative and get better with consecutive treatments.
